Kids + Clay = Fun
Joanne can tailor a workshop to suit the needs of any class – whether you require specific outcomes or simply want to offer your students a creative learning experience:
structured workshop with specific outcome (eg. Mothers’ Day gifts)
easy-to-follow tutorial with time for the students to go wild with their creativity
Up-skilling for teachers
If you are keen to independently teach clay in your classroom with confidence, Joanne can walk you through the basics including glaze and kiln-firing to suit your set-up.
Happy to talk through your options.
The following options can be tailored to suit any age, both primary and secondary:
-
Pinch pots are a foundational process that can lead to just about anything. The slow making process lends itself towards a relaxing session of creative exploration.
-
Plate decals are a fun way of transposing drawings onto ceramic surfaces. Joanne will lead students through a fun drawing game before transferring the images onto the water slide decal paper.
-
Surface and texture is possibly one of the most satisfying ways to work with clay and is accessible to any age. Using found textures and hand made stamps we will impress the clay before making our artworks.
-
Sgraffito is an Italian word translated in English to mean 'scratch'. Layers of colour are applied before a design is carved through the leatherhard clay.
