Wheel-throwing classes
Everyone starts off wanting to be Kevin Bacon but ends up quitting their day job, buying their own wheel and mixing their own glazes. You’ve been warned.
Tuesday evenings, 1 x two-hour workshop
Pop-up wheel-throwing class
These one-off two-hour sessions are perfect for beginners who’d like to try their hand at the wheel
Learn how to prepare, centre and shape forms on the wheel with Joanne’s expert guidance. Each student can expect to make four works* in a pop-up session. Classes are limited to six students to allow Joanne to provide each beginner with one-to-one attention.
Learn:
simple forms like bowls, mugs and plates are all achievable for your first attempt on a wheel, more complex forms like teapots will come with more practise – don’t forget, ceramics is a slow art!
Please note:
some of your pots might be a bit wobbly as you learn to throw but as with all handmade objects, this is part of their charm
Joanne will finish the works by trimming the base, stamping your initials, and glazing using a range of colours and stoneware firing
once fired, they will be packed and ready for collection within a month of your class
Pop-up workshops are offered regularly, but not consistently – please follow Joanne on Instagram or subscribe to the newsletter to keep up-to-date with future class offerings.
*All works are microwave and dishwasher safe .
